Want to know how many times I’ve rewritten this thing? Definitely more than once.
Here’s what you need to know:
I’m Rob. I live in Raleigh, NC and I freaking love it. I go to a kick-ass gyms full of good people, I have access to plenty of good barbecue, I live right next to wooded trail that I walk on every single morning (except when it rains), and there are plenty of good bars and bottle shops willing to take my money in exchange for delicious beer (DIPAS and BBA stouts FTW). At the moment, I work full time as an engineer for a construction management company, while spending my spare time doing the aforementioned activities, working on this blog, and coaching a few people via the interwebs.
What kind of coaching, you ask?
While I HATE how nebulous this is going to sound, but the best I can come up with is “nutrition, fitness, and health coaching”. Why did I choose this (admittedly vague, nebulous) description? Because it’s straightforward, simple, and accurately describes the areas in my clients improve their lives.
Why do I do this?
That’s kind of a long story, but suffice it say that I have learned first hand just how confusing, conflicting, and frustrating most nutrition, fitness, and health advice out there is. Not to say that it’s necessarily WRONG (which some of it is), but that much of it tries to provide a “one size fits all solution”. The fact of the matter is that there IS not such solution.
What do I do differently?
Rather than just hand you some blanket recommendations that I determined from an online calculator or list of “good” and “bad” foods that I read on some blog, I provide my clients a framework – a set of strategies and general applicable steps – to most quickly and effectively figure out what works FOR THEM, not for somebody else.
I’ve got an open mind, I’m always learning, and I work hard to maintain a wide set of tools and approaches that I can tailor to YOUR specific needs. We will NOT be implementing some rigid, dogmatic, approach, but always be working to determine what’s working for you, what’s not working for you, and what our next step will be.
I’m a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Precision Nutrition level 1 Certified Coach (PN1), and Certified Primal Health Coach (PHC, I think, although this hasn’t really been defined). I’m currently working through the Precision Nutrition Level 2 Certification program, which concludes in April 2018.
While ultimately these certifications don’t, on their own, reflect how good or poor of a coach I am, I like to think they represent the diverse range of ideas, concepts, and coaching strategies I’ve sought to understand and keep under my belt.
My TOP priority is not just to know nutrition or training (although this is important), but to push myself everyday to most effectively work with you, and guide you, as you create positive, sustainable change within the context of your goals, your needs, and your lifestyle.
