One of the most paralyzing feelings is overwhelm.
This might be the result of over-commitment.
We take on more than we can handle.
This might be the result of life just piling on.
One responsibility after another being heaped upon us.
With or without our consent.
The feeling of overwhelm might be completely unrelated to commitments or responsibilities.
It might be emotional, mental, or spiritual.
Struggling through more thoughts and emotions than we can manage.
Unsure of when or how we might be free from their weight.
Such feelings of overwhelm can cause us to freeze.
We feel like we have so much bearing on us that we don’t even know what to do about it.
Even if we do know what to do about it, the task seems insurmountable.
We can’t build up the energy, the motivation, or the courage to act.
So we do nothing.
We just deal with it.
We wait for it to go away.
But it doesn’t.
This doesn’t have to be the case.
We don’t have to just sit with such overwhelm indefinitely.
When there’s too much on your plate.
When you don’t know where to start.
When you feel overwhelmed.
Take one step.
No matter how small that small step may be.
No matter how difficult that small step is to take.
Action is the antidote to overwhelm.
Even if you don’t know what you can do.
Even if there’s nothing you can do.
Simply knowing that you’re trying might be enough.
Making progress might be a slow process.
You might not be able to do everything.
You might not enjoy yourself.
Buy you’ll move forward.
You’ll get there.
You’ve got this.
