It can be tough to know what to do when progress stalls.
Or when we’re not seeing progress at all.
This is especially true when we’ve got our minds set on a specific approach.
That is, it’s not just the goal to which we’re married.
It’s our strategy.
We’ve decided that “this will work”.
And nothing will change our mind.
Have you ever felt like that?
When you’ve just known that a certain approach is the answer?
No matter what?
You’ve determined that any other option just won’t work.
Even when what you’re doing isn’t working?
You’ve probably been there.
When you’re frustrated at your lack of progress.
You’ve been running farther.
Lifting more frequently.
Cutting more calories.
Dialing down the fat.
Eating fewer carbs.
Whatever it is that you think will move you toward your goal.
You think more is the answer.
But still no progress.
Do you really need to double down?
Do you really need to do more of whatever it is you’ve been doing?
How’s that been working for you?
What if instead you explored other options?
There’s much to be said for obsession over a goal.
If it’s a worthy goal, go after it, tenaciously.
The approach, however, isn’t the goal.
Only one of those two is worthy of such commitment.
Ask yourself if your commitment to the approach is keeping you from the goal.
You’ve got this.
