Holding ourselves accountable.
We tend to view these through a negative lens.
To be avoided.
Often because they leave us open us up to criticism.
Yet criticism and judgment are facts of life.
We’ll always be judged.
We’ll always be criticized.
We’ll never please everybody.
Regardless of what we do.
We might as well embrace these expressions of ownership.
These expressions of our infinite potential.
Our capacity for improvement.
Our hunger for growth.
Without ownership, are we not powerless?
Do we not surrender control?
Command of our lives?
We may avoid the criticism and judgment of others.
But in doing so we create criticism and judgment of ourselves.
Which do you expect to hit closer to home?
That from others, for owning our mistakes and missteps?
Or that from ourselves, for denying them?
Not much in life is within our control.
Why not embrace what little is?
Why not embrace ownership?
Why not embrace accountability, responsibility, even fault?
Criticism and judgment may come.
But so, too, will empowerment.
A path toward a better life.
You’ve got this.
