There are those who will tell us that once we lose the fat.
Once we build the strength.
Once our blood labs are in range.
We’ll be happy.
And that, until that happens, we’re just weak.
This message of not being enough is broadcast to us all.
Men and women.
Young and old.
Day in and day out.
There’s no denying that it’s problematic.
There’s a growing trend, however, of voices telling us that we should just stay how we are.
That we shouldn’t lose the fat.
Or build the strength.
Care about our health.
That we should settle.
This message is no less problematic.
It presents a false dichotomy.
Settling for less than and feeling less than are not our only options.
It’s okay to want more.
To feel discontented.
To say “I can do better”.
What matters is what’s driving these thoughts and feelings.
A desire to be worthy?
Or a recognition of and desire to fulfill your intrinsic worth?
Nothing you do will make you worthy.
You already are.
If you don’t feel that way.
If you don’t understand that truth.
That’s where you might focus your efforts.
You’ll never lose enough fat.
You’ll never gain enough muscle.
You’ll never improve your health enough.
To be worthy.
You are already worthy of looking and feeling your best.
You are already worthy of a lean, strong, healthy body through which to pursue your dreams and goals.
You are already worthy.
Go get it.
