There are days when you just don’t want to do the thing.
You don’t want to cook the meal.
You don’t want to shop for groceries.
You don’t want to go to the gym.
You don’t want to meditate.
You don’t want to go to bed.
Even though you know these steps will help move you towards looking and feeling your best.
There’s nothing wrong with feeling this way.
These things aren’t always fun or exciting.
They’re especially difficult to do on days when life isn’t going so awesomely.
What can you do?
Eliminate as much friction as possible between you and doing the thing.
Shape your environment for success.
Join a gym close to work and home.
Lay out your workout clothes in a convenient spot.
Stock up on foods that align with your needs, preferences, and goals.
Don’t keep trigger foods at home.
Make things easier for yourself.
Your brain will seek out any reason not to do things that you don’t want to do.
If you can remove or reduce as many of these reasons as possible, you’ll have a much higher chance of staying consistent with the steps you take to take care of yourself.
Ask yourself what are the things that you feel the most resistance to doing?
What are the things that you find set you back the most often?
How can you shape your environment to set yourself up for success with these things?
You may need to get a little creative.
You may need to try different approaches.
You probably aren’t going to nail this right off the bat.
Just keep trying.
Keep moving forward.
Keep trying different approaches.
The momentum will build.
The progress come more easily.
You are going to do great.
