Are you a planner?
Do you like to know exactly what you’re going to do tomorrow?
Do you like to have your meals, training sessions, and recovery routines all mapped out?
Every aspect of your self-care dialed in and detailed?
Does this tendency of yours keep you from taking action?
When you can’t get something perfectly planned, you don’t do anything at all?
You think to yourself “well, what if…”
And then list all the reasons that your plan might not work perfectly 100% all the time.
So you don’t even try.
You just stay where you are.
Doing what you’ve been doing.
Even when it’s not working.
Or maybe you just give up.
You don’t have the perfect plan so you don’t do anything at all.
Here’s the deal.
There’s only one thing you ever really need to know.
What to do next.
Sure, plans can help you figure this out.
Ultimately, though, plans are just series of “do nexts”.
Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and want to quit.
“What can I do next?”
Then, do that.
Is that exactly what you “need” to do?
Will whatever step you take actually move you toward your goal?
But it’s all you can do.
Nine times out of ten, that’s better than nothing.
At the very least, you’re learning more about what doesn’t work.
No plan will ever be perfect.
No plan will ever execute without needing adjustments.
No plan will ever help you progress indefinitely.
The only way to execute a plan for the long run is to execute it right now.
That’s all you can ever do.
You can never do anything yesterday or tomorrow.
You only do things today.
So do that.
You’ve got this.
