Our actions and our identities are intimately linked.
Our actions shape our identity.
Our identities shape our actions.
How we live and who we are are largely inseparable.
Unless we deliberately manipulate this relationship.
We recognize this connection.
And we act in certain ways to build a certain identity.
Even when we know that it’s not sincere.
When we know we’re doing so solely to create a perception.
With the end goal being only to fabricate an identity.
One that doesn’t reflect who we are at our core.
We say and do things because of what others think.
Because of how others see us.
What others expect of us.
Perhaps, even, for what we think others expect of us.
We’re not living for ourselves.
We’re living for others.
Seeking their validation.
Seeking their approval.
Seeking their love.
Letting our lives pass us by.
Never finding what we’re looking for.
Because the validation, the approval, and love we seek only comes from within.
You might be able to put on a front.
Act as someone you’re not.
Create a facade.
Deep inside, though, you’ll know.
You’re out of alignment with your truth.
It will eat at you.
Until you change or there’s nothing left.
You might trick others.
You won’t trick yourself.
You are worthy of a most excellent life.
On your terms.
Defined by what you want.
You are worthy.
You’ve got this.
