Letting go is freaking hard.
When we set our sights on a target.
Something we want to achieve.
An outcome toward which we work.
We invest so much time and energy into chasing it.
We put in the work.
Day after day.
Yet, many of us learn our enthusiasm for such endeavors isn’t permanent.
We might start to second guess whether we truly want it.
We might even realize, deep down, that we don’t want it like we thought we did.
What we once thought was so important to us isn’t anymore.
It’s lost its allure.
At times like these, we’re at a loss for what to do.
Do we keep pushing?
Do we keep showing up?
Do we keep putting in the work?
It’s possible that how we’re feeling is temporary.
That the fire might be re-lit.
It’s possible, too, that it won’t.
It’s possible that the goal is no longer in alignment with our best life.
That we’re not who we used to be.
That our values aren’t what they used to be.
That what we want isn’t what it used to be.
What do we do then?
Do we continue to pursue meaningless ends?
As you grow.
As you learn more about yourself.
As you sort out what you want your life to be.
Your priorities will change.
It’s okay to pivot your efforts.
To pursue one end today and another tomorrow.
To let go of yesterday’s goals and ambitions.
Keep living your truth.
Whatever that happens to be.
However that happens to ebb and flow.
Go with it.
You’ve got this.
